Introduction
Self driving car, autonomous vehicle, robot car. All these different titles bring the exact same popular concept to mind when perhaps overheard mentioned on CNN, or even in your local newspaper. The concept of self driving automobiles has been present from as far back as the middle-ages, centuries before the first models of the modern car were even created. To first set a baseline for the ensuing discussions on this blog, self driving cars by definition are vehicles in which human operators are never required to command the vehicle manually to safely operate it. These cars contain a mix of new and old technology that allows it to drive by utilizing sensors and software to navigate. Self driving vehicles have a broad range of benefitting factors ranging from an increase in road safety to combating climate change. Self driving cars may be one of the most exciting new forms of technology being developed and tested and I will be discussing all their benefits and issues here on this blog.
